About the Authors
Matt George's feature articles and photographs have stood among the most influential works in surfing journalism for over thirty-five years. Accepting a post as Senior Contributing Editor for SURFER Magazine in 1985, George traveled the world as he covered all aspects of the sport, garnering a sterling list of awards and achievements along the way. George is also known for the writing and co-production of the Columbia Tri-Star Feature film "In Gods Hands," a big wave surfing drama. He remains a senior contributor for all the major surf magazines and websites.
Currently residing in Bali, Indonesia, Matt George continues to contribute as the Editor-in-Chief of Southeast Asia's Surftime Magazine. Despite his extensive career, George remains deeply connected to the essence of surfing, riding the waves of passion every day.
As a feature writer and editor-in-chief of SURFER Magazine, Sam George, 68, has been documenting the surfing life for over 40 years and is today acknowledged as one of the sport's leading authorities.
Along with his magazine work Sam has written and/or directed a number of acclaimed surfing documentaries, including his 2014 documentary Hawaiian: The Legend of Eddie Aikau, screened as the premier episode of ESPN's prestigious "30 for 30" documentary series, winning Sam a 2014 Emmy Award as director.
A longtime Malibu resident, Sam currently lives on Whidbey Island, Washington.
