About the Author
Gary Priesler’s career in the entertainment industry is unique. His abilities as a creative force (he has written fourteen screenplays, four original T.V. sitcoms, a novel, a graphic novel as well as directed) are matched by his business expertise (he has functioned in a number of executive capacities, sold films internationally, raised millions in private equity and Produced/Executive Produced twelve feature films).
He was recently hired by Caprock Entertainment to write the Texas-set feature film, THE SKY- VUE and completed a total re-write for the action feature I AM YOU set to shoot in Australia in July 2023.
He set up the TV series BROKEN GLASS with the German distribution company Splendid Entertainment and will serve as an Executive Producer and co-writer along with Frank Renzulli (THE SOPRANOS). David E. Kelley is the Executive Creative Consultant.
He produced KILL CHAIN starring Nicolas Cage in Bogota, Colombia. Production wrapped October 15, 2018, and launched on Amazon Prime in October 2019.
In 2016 and 2015, he produced ALL I WISH starring Sharon Stone/Ellen Burstyn/Tony Goldwyn and Famke Janssen… and BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA starring Freida Pinto, Ryan Kwanten and Mickey Rourke.
He followed that up with MISCONDUCT starring Al Pacino, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Josh Duhamel, Julia Stiles, Alice Eve and Malin Ackerman.
Current projects include THE MANGO TREE which he co-wrote with Pauline Chan. Angelina Jolie is set to produce under her production banner; and IN SEARCH OF AN ENDING set to shoot in Vancouver in March of 2023. Peter Howitt (SLIDING DOORS/LAWS OF ATTRACTION/JOHNNY ENLGISH) is attached to direct, and Quiver Entertainment is financing.
His thriller, UNDER THE KNIFE begins casting in November 2022 for an April 2023 start of production in Kelowna, Canada.
From January 2009 until June of 2013, he was a Vice President at Inferno Entertainment; a top-tier international sales, production and finance company. He was responsible for the company’s expansion into China and sought out new investment partners in the U.S./Asia and Europe and built a series of unique investment opportunities with Production, VFX, Postproduction and Music Licensing entities.
He functioned in an executive capacity on THE GREY starring Liam Neeson and raised production financing and co-produced the re-launch of the horror series SILENT NIGHT.
He Executive Produced ELSA & FRED directed by Michael Radford (Il POSTINO) starring Shirley MacLaine and Christopher Plummer and Executive Produced AMNESIAC directed by Michael Polish and starring Kate Bosworth and Wes Bentley... and launched Ember Productions; a genre label developing, financing, and producing features with budgets under six million dollars.
In 2009, he Executive Produced LOCAL COLOR from Writer/Director George Gallo
(MIDNIGHT RUN/BAD BOYS) starring Armin Mueller-Stahl, Ray Liotta, Samantha Mathis, and Charles Durning.
In 2008, he sold his original screenplay, WHEN STRANGERS KISS (an elevated erotic thriller) to RKO Pictures and in 2007 he sold his original screenplay, THE ALL AMERICAN (a college sports comedy) to New Regency and 20th Century Fox.
Many of his screenplays have been in various stages of development in both the studio and independent worlds including Warner Bros, New Regency, Cinevox, Cineville, 20th Century Fox, among others. His first screenplay, REBELS IN CHAINS, written while he was in High School, was optioned and developed by Larry and Chuck Gordon at Fox. He set up his original sitcom, THE AGES at Columbia Pictures Television and DR. ACULA at Fox Television.
In 2009, he wrote two comedy pilots, LOUNGE LIZARDS and THE GOOD LIFE and developed the comedies SIMON SAYS and a meter maid comedy, BOOTED!, that same year.
Among his feature producing credits includes ILLUSIONS starring Heather Locklear, Emma Samms and Ned Beatty… and the hit independent comedy EIGHT DAYS A WEEK starring Keri Russell which Roger Ebert declared… "THE BEST TEEN FILM SINCE FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH" The equity-financed feature brought its investors a 200% return on their investment.
He wrote and produced CASULATIES for Lakeshore and Trans-Atlantic Entertainment. He started his career at Disney as one of the youngest executives in the company’s history working in the Product Development department under Jeffrey Katzenberg.
His first novel, TOTAL IMMERSION, is set to be published in 2023.
